The Dos and Don’ts for a Better Wash – Tips for Appliances

What is that smell? Are you taking care of your appliances, like your washer, properly?

Thanks to our friends at HGTV magazine, they have offered up some excellent advice on getting the whitest whites and cleanest laundry out of your washing machine. Does your washer have a funky smell? Are you over stuffing it full of laundry? Stop the insanity and get the most out of your laundry appliances by following these tips:

1. Do Consider a Top Loading Washer.

Its been approximately 10 years since the front loading washers made a big splash in the marketplace, but now, high-efficiency top loaders are gaining speed. These appliances sport high-efficiency operations, low water usage and bigger capacities. One our favorites include the Maytag Bravos XL® HE Top Load Washer with PowerWash® System.  Get the Best Cleaning in the Industry enabled by PowerWash® system, plus the sanitary cycle with oxi helps eliminate 99.999 percent of common household bacteria. The allergen cycle reduces 95% of common household allergens like pet dander and dust mites.

appliances - laundry stuffing2. Don’t Overstuff the Washing Machine

Over stuffing your front loading or top loading laundry appliances is a major No-No. If you fill your washer to the brim, not only will your clothes not get clean, but you risk putting extra stress on the motor and can wear it out. Of course, we want you to call Home-Tech for repairing your appliances, but we also want you to get the most you can out of them. Our advice: fill top loaders three-fourths full and front loaders two-thirds full. These are the manufacturers suggested fill levels to get the cleanest clothes while having your appliances operate at their best.

3. Don’t Let Your Washer Do the Waddle Dance Across the Floor.

While watching your washer do the shimmy shimmy shakes is entertaining, it is not good for your appliances. Front loaders and top loaders can both wobble. First, evaluate your loading technique. Are you shoving all the heavy clothing, like jeans or pants to one side of the basin? Second, is your washing machine on level ground?  If you have tried to remedy the wobbles without success, these may be signs of a future breakdown. In this case, call Home-Tech for laundry appliance repair service.

4. Do Check Your Hoses.

When was the last time you took a look at your washer’s hoses? We know this isn’t something you may do on a routine basis, but really, you should. Hoses on these appliances can wear out after five years if they are made of plastic and rubber. Take a good look at them, and try to spot any holes or cracks. If you see any, schedule service with Home-Tech and they can replace these with more durable hoses.

appliances - affresh tabs to clean washer basin5. Do Routine Cleaning of the Washer Basin.

Just because a washing machine cleans your clothes, doesn’t mean it cleans itself. Your machine’s wash basin, when not maintained, is a breeding ground for mold, mildew and foul odors. We have two easy cleaning solutions for you to try out. The first is Affresh, washing cleaning kit. The kit contains cleaning clothes and tablet you drop in your machine. You can purchase these in our Appliance Showrooms. The second suggestion is using good old Clorox bleach. Pour one cup of bleach into your empty machine and run it through a warm wash cycle.

6. Don’t Add too Much Detergent.

Those lines on the laundry detergent cap aren’t a eye-chart test. They are a well-tested and proven measurement for getting clothes their cleanest. The lines aren’t a suggestion, they are the rule. Our appliance experts suggest using even less than the recommended amount. You could wind up with soap scum on your clothes along with an icky residue, and no one wants that.  For those of us that are allergic to dyes and harsh soaps, unclean clothes will cause increased itching. So do yourself and your clothes a favor and follow the rules of the cap.

7. Do Call Home-Tech When Your Washing Makes Weird Noises.

Did you hear that? If you are hearing a loud clicking, buzzing or humming noise from your washing machine or weird noises from any of your home appliances, call Home-Tech. We are the appliance repair experts and can repair any brand of appliances. Nights, weekends, and even tropical storms can’t keep us away from assisting our customers with their appliance repair needs. When you need a new appliance or repair service- you need Home-Tech. Call us to schedule a service or to chat with our Appliance Sales team to learn about the latest and greatest in laundry appliances: 800-800-8356.

Service Agreement Vs Home Warranties – What’s Up with the Fine Print?

No guess work on which home warranty plan to take for new home buyers.  No deductible.  No problem!

Imagine you are a home buyer and the realtor pulls out a large stack of home warranties and service agreements for you to review.  They tell you to select appliances from column A, two items from column B, and for an upcharge, three from column C.  Purchasing a warranty or service agreement should not be similar to purchasing a value meal at a chain restaurant.

Service Agreements for Home SellersHome warranty plans offer a variety of items.  Each company is different and the fine print can be complex.  The pile of plans is confusing.  It is hard enough when you are considering buying one for one property, but what if you manage multiple properties and have renters?  How do you keep all of the appliances and air conditioners running at their best?  One plan stands out!

The best solution for one home or many is the Gold Service Agreement from Home-Tech.  It covers all of your major home appliances, air conditioning/heating and water heater. These are the most important and expensive systems in the home to have replaced.

Home-Tech’s Service Agreement Has No Competitor

Service Agreement – Man Arrested for Selling Fake Service Warranties in Port Charlotte

Is it too much to ask for ethical service with your Service Agreement or appliance warranty program?  Just this past Tuesday, we posted about the Today Show’s story on unethical air conditioning and appliance repairmen. The next day, a Home-Tech employee came across this story on NBC 2′s website: Man arrested for selling fake appliance warranties.  This is another prime example of a rip-off and scammer that reflects poorly on our industry.

This story is reposted from NBC-2.com:

A 36-year-old Punta Gorda air conditioner repairman was arrested on Tuesday for selling a fraudulent warranty to a Port Charlotte woman.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a woman on April 13th complaining about being scammed by Nathan Sasse.

The victim said she hired {OMITTED COMPANY NAME} to service her air conditioner in January. When she asked about renewing or extending her appliance warranty, Sasse told her he had a friend who could provide service warranties cheaper than Sears, and handed her a brochure with the company name, “Service and Security Excellence.”

Later that month, Sasse returned to the woman’s home and she provided him with a $400 check to purchase the SASE warranty.

A representative contacted the woman in February and told him that Sasse had been fired from the company for stealing from them and that the warranty she purchased from him was likely a scam.

On May 22nd, detectives with the CCSO Economic Crimes Unit contacted the Florida Division of Corporations on the status of SASE and were told it was a “rejected filing.”

The Charlotte County Tax Collector’s Office said they had no listing for SASE, and the Florida Department of Financial Services said home warranty sales are required to be licensed.

Sasse was arrested Tuesday on charges of grand theft and violating licensing requirements to sell home warranties.

If anyone has purchased a warranty from Sasse and his fake company, you’re asked to call CCSO at 941-639-2101.

Service Agreements VS Maintenance Agreements

Kimberly Riching Provides an Inside Look on Outside Sales

Name: Kimberly Riching

Title: Service Agreement Sales Manager

How many years have you worked for Home-Tech:  Two and a half years.

Service Agreement Guru Kimberly

Service Agreement Guru, Kimberly Riching

What positions have you held? Service Agreement Outside Sales and most recently, Service Agreement Sales Manager.  Just to clarify, I still do outside sales.

What is your unique approach to selling Service Agreements?

I have been a licensed realtor for ten years, so I am very familiar with the business of real estate.  I am able to communicate the value to the realtor, buyer and seller and how the Home-Tech Service Agreement helps in making the sale.

What is the most common misconception customers have about our Service Agreements?

Many people think our Service Agreement is similar to a Maintenance Agreement, which it is not.  Some potential customers don’t fully understand their current agreement, and believe their air conditioner is “covered” with their maintenance contract.  In fact, their contract only offers the maintenance on their air conditioner, similar to a clean and check, and a “discount” on any repairs.

Service Agreements are a Big Hit at Trade Show for Realtors

Service Agreements are a Big Hit at Trade Show for Realtors

Another misconception is that Home-Tech is a national home warranty company, which we are not.  When I explain to the customer that we are a local business, and the competing home warranty is from a national company, they aren’t aware of the flaws of dealing with a larger, national company.

I try to point out that when the customer has a need for service, Home-Tech sends out our own technicians, not a subcontractor like the national firm.  Our technicians are safe, clean cut, criminally background checked and professional.  We can provide service the same day, while our competitors can make a customer wait days for a repair.

What is your absolute favorite thing about our Service Agreement?

No service call fee, on parts and labor.  Or, our ability to provide emergency service, even on national holidays and after hours.  You can reach us anytime for repair of your air conditioning, heat in the winter,  refrigerator (and the food spoilage).

I love to use this scenario.  Let’s say its Christmas Day, you have a house full of guests, and the air conditioner breaks.  Think about what that would cost to have another company come out for emergency service, let alone on Christmas Day.  It would cost an arm and a leg for anyone else to come out,  if they even would come out at all.

With Home-Tech, we would be there.  It’s covered under the Gold Service Agreement, and you can focus on what is really important, like spending quality time with the family.

Has anything funny happened to you while driving the Home-Tech car?

Ha!  Yes.  In fact, there was one afternoon I had pulled into a Publix parking lot to put in some eye drops.  I am mid drop, when I hear a knock knock on the window.  It scared me half to death!  A nice couple had seen our commercials on television and wanted to know more about Home-Tech.  It’s really hard to miss that car, even in a crowded lot.

Service Agreement vs. Necktie This Father’s Day

Which Gift is Best For Father’s Day?

A Service Agreement or a Necktie

A Service Agreement or a Necktie

Another Tie for Father’s Day?

Next to mothers, fathers are the most important people in our livesHome-Tech loves to celebrate all the great Dads living in Southwest Florida, and of course, we want to give you a great Father’s Day gift idea, one that provides convenience, peace of mind and savings for your Dad.  Of course, we are recommending you purchase one of our Service Agreements.  While this may seem like an unconventional gift, it actually makes a lot of sense.  It is something he won’t want to take back and can appreciate and use to the fullest.

The Service Agreement vs. The Necktie

The old staple for a Father’s Day gift is the necktie, baseball tickets, golf club or grill tool set.  All of these make great gifts, but are they really something that he can use and rely on every day?  Will they make his life easier?  Lets do a comparison:

The Necktie

  • Dresses up a suit
  • Fits in any drawer
  • Brought out on special occasions
  • Is a gift you have given before, right?  Admit it?

The Gold Service AgreementService Agreement

  • Covers (1) Air-Conditioning System
    (1) Heating System, (1) Refrigerator, (1) Icemaker (including replacement, in covered refrigerator), (1) Microwave, (1) Range, (1) Dishwasher, (1)Disposal (including replacement), (1) Washer, (1) Dryer and, (1) Water Heater (electrical system only)
  • Keeps his air conditioning running perfectly all year long so he can be comfortable.
  • Saves your Dad lots of money on costly service calls, and appliance and air conditioning repairs.
  • Provides him with peace of mind because he knows just who to call everytime – Home-Tech!
  • Gives him more free time to spend on the golf course, instead of trying to fix it himself or wait around for service people who may or may not be dependable.

The Best Gift for Dad

A Service Agreement for Dad

Smile, A Service Agreement from Home-Tech has Dad covered

Clearly, the Gold Service Agreement is the better choice.  Look at it like this.  Your Dad is always saying, “The best gift you could give is just spending time with me.”  Well, you can spend more quality time with him when he is not worrying about his appliances and air conditioning.

Best of all, he will brag about you to all of  his friends, because he will be so happy with our service.  Others aren’t fortunate to know about Home-Tech’s Service Agreements.  Be a sport, tell your friends!   Spread the word!  It truly is a win-win for parent and child.

Service Agreement Protection for Home Sellers

Service Agreements for Home SellersService Agreement Protection for Home Sellers

A Real Estate Agent’s Dream

If you are a Seller’s Agent in Southwest Florida, you and your client will both benefit when you assist them in purchasing a Service Agreement from Home-Tech.  How?

  • Your Seller will have peace of mind.
  • Buyers will have fewer concerns, making your listing easier to sell.
  • The Service Agreement VALUE will set your listing apart from the other listings in the MLS.
  • There is the convenience of working with a top notch company if an air conditioning or appliance repair is needed during the listing time period.
  • It’s a helpful tool during the contract negotiation.
  • Your happy Seller is bound to refer you.

Peace of Mind

Sellers can be anxious about many things during the sales process.  They have to prepare their home, stage it and then keep it in pristine condition.  They worry if their listing price is right, how fierce the competition is, time on the market, how many showings they are getting and what buyers think of their home.  They also have concerns about the economy and if the right buyer is out there for them.  Many of them have moved on and are now in their next home.  Taking care of their home air conditioning system and appliance repairs from afar can be a great concern and expense.  The Service Agreement from Home-Tech takes one of their main concerns out of the equation.  Any needed repairs can be taken care of immediately.  We offer emergency service, 7 days a week.  The homeowners do not even need to be there.  And most importantly, the crippling worries over the high costs of repair or replacement are gone.

Employment - AC and Appliance Technician

Buyers Concerns Alleviated

Many Buyers are limited by budget, their loan considerations and just don’t want to have to hassle with appliance or air conditioning replacement or repair costs when they are in the market.  Buyers are more likely to choose a home with the security of a Service Agreement in place, especially a well known commodity like Home-Tech’s.  Get your Seller more offers and expedite the selling process.

Beat the Competition

Set your listing WAY apart from the MLS competition with help from a company that provides concierge-type service.  There are a many different kinds of agreements and home warranty companies on the market, but they don’t offer what Home-Tech does.  Many Southwest Florida residents have experienced the difference of having a clean-cut technician show up, that same day, within a two hour time window, and reliably and efficiently make needed repairs.  Our technicians repair every brand of ac and appliance.  Our customers have many reasons to recommend us to their friends, but they always talk about their excellent service experience.  You’ll feel good recommending the BEST to your client.

Use Our ToolsHome-Tech Gold Service Agreement Logo

With the flexibility of three different plans to offer, we give you the tools to help each and every Seller have the coverage that pertains to their situation.  If they want full coverage they can go for the GOLD.  If their appliances are brand new, they might just want to purchase our COOL VALUE coverage to take care of their ac systems.  With three different, simple plans and pricing, you will find it easy to explain to your clients and get them on board.  Clients can sign up online, in minutes, at www.home-tech.com.

The After Glow

You will have a happy Seller and they will stay happy.  If an ac or appliance repair is needed during the listing time period, Home-Tech will repair it.  We also offer plumbing and electrical coverage.  Our Agreements are transferable.  So after the sale closes, if there are problems, you will not have an upset client or Buyer’s Agent calling you.  Home-Tech will handle it with the new homeowner.  Best of all, your Seller is bound to refer you to other clients because of the smooth transaction and “after” period.
