Freezer Repair - “Chill Out” With Home-Tech

Home-Tech - Freezer Repair Experts

When your freezer is packed full of steaks, vegetables, fruits and frozen dinners, the last you need is for it to malfunction.  Let’s face it, it’s impossible to cook and eat the entire contents of your freezer in a couple of days before it can go bad.  A full freezer will keep the correct temperature and food safe for only 48 hours if the door remains closed.  A half full freezer will only keep the food safe for 24 hours.  When the freezer isn’t freezing anymore, or having any of the common problems listed below, it’s time to call Home-Tech.  We’ll get it back up and running again before your food is ruined.  More information on Freezer/Food Safety.

Not Working At All

It’s best to check that it is plugged in and that the circuit breaker hasn’t blown.  Perhaps it’s not getting any power.  If it is getting power then there could be several other problems with it.  It’s best to have one of our professional appliance technicians look it over.

Not Freezing?

Try turning down your thermostat to a colder temperature.  If that doesn’t work, it could be any number of things wrong, including timers, controls or wiring.  Home-Tech’s technicians will be able to make a diagnosis and repair it for you in no time.

It’s Running Constantly

When you get a new freezer and load it up with food, it does run a long time, until it cools down enough to get to the right temperature.   It also may run a long time if you put quite a bit of warm food in it or if it’s a hot and humid day.   It could also run constantly if there is not enough air clearance space around the freezer.  Make sure the condenser has enough space to radiate the heat away from the freezer.  Maybe your light is staying on inside the freezer all the time.  This could heat it up.  You may need a new light switch.   Our expert technicians can detect what the problem is and solve it.  Call us for service.

Door Problems

The gasket on the freezer door can leak and that can cause temperature issues.  Home-Tech can replace your door gasket in a jiffy.  You can test your door gasket by putting a $100 bill in the door when you close it.  If the bill comes out easily, it’s a sign that you need a new gasket.  Speaking of a $100 bill, if you are a Service Agreement member with Home-Tech, you’ll end up keeing that bill when you call for a repair, because our members receive UNLIMITED SERVICE CALLS, parts and labor.

Too Frosty?

A defrosting freezer is supposed to defrost itself by itself.  If you are noticing too much frost build up, it could be a problem with the door or with the self-defrosting system.  It’s time to get an appliance technician in to look it over.

My Foods Have Freezer Burn

When your frozen foods have that dried up, “burned” appearance, it could be that they were not wrapped up tightly enough, have been in the freezer for too long or that the temperature in your freezer is fluctuating and not at the 0 degree mark.  You can check your freezer temperature by putting a thermometer in it.  If the temperature is not correct, it’s time to call Home-Tech.  We want to be sure that your foods are stored at the correct temperature for your health and safety.
