Washer and Dryer Recipients - Santa Suds Giveaway

December 2011 ~ After receiving 124 nominations from Lee County and 74 from Sarasota, Home-Tech’s judges had quite a difficult decision to make as to how to narrow it down to 3 winners from each area to receive a new washer and dryer set.  There were so many heart wrenching stories and deserving families.

Here are the stories of our Sarasota area winners:

Santa Suds Winners:  Christine and John Bradford

Nomination Letter:

“Christine Bradford, a third grade teacher, and her husband, John, have recently adopted four children, all under the age of twelve, from foster care.  This doubled the size of the people who depend on them, as they already had four children of their own.  They are truly wonderful, selfless, giving people, humbly going about doing amazing things.  I think the need and benefit of the new washer and dryer is pretty obvious – giving the Bradfords at least a chance to keep up with the laundry demands of ten people!  Please brighten their Christmas this year, as they have brightened the lives of those lucky children.  God bless the Bradford family.” ~ Nominated by Holly Higgins.

Santa Suds Winner:  Kris Brown

Nomination Letter:

“Kris contributes COUNTLESS hours back to our community through Little League, Pop Warner, Hospitality committees, Breast Cancer awareness, the list goes on and on.  Her most recent washer and dryer was $50 from Craigslist and the dryer has finally quit.  She has been washing and taking loads of wet cothes to the laundromat late at night after working full time and volunteering in the community everyday.  She is a very special person, both she and her husband work full time and volunteer countless hours.  They simply cannot afford anything new.  They have not gone Christmas shopping yet for their 2 children as they are waiting for a check sometime next week.  A new laundry system is necessary as I do not like them going to an all night laundromat after all they do for the organizations in this community.  Please please please help :)   thank you!!!”  ~ Nominated by Tamera Smalley

Santa Suds Winner:  Keith Evans

Nomination Letter:

“Keith Evans is my co-worker here at Osprey Biotechnics and helps me in logistics here.  He is a single father raising 2 children, daughter 12 and a son 11.  Keith is a good worker and is always on time.  Recently his automobile broke down and he takes the bus to work (always on time) to run errands and do his laundry at the laundromat.  I believe he deserves this because he is always there for his children, and is a good, honest person.  Having a washer/dryer would make a Great Christmas!” ~ Nominated by Tom Edelblute

Here are the stories of our three Fort Myers area winners, who received delivery of their new washers and dryers on December 20th . . . just in time for Christmas!  Merry Christmas to all and congratulations!

Santa Suds Winner:  Chad Munoz

Nomination Letter:

“Chad and Melissa Munoz are the blessed parents of Julia.  She was born three years ago and she immediately needed open heart surgery to replace a valve.  Parents and family had many close calls with her, but she made it through all the surgeries.  Her parents borrowed from family and friends to pay since they did not have insurance.  Julia’s valve was to last until she was around ten, however her valve is leaking and she is scheduled for surgery on January 18, 2012.  Co-pays for insurance will cost them $4000.  Again, family and friends are doing what they can to gather the money.  They have no money to replace the washer that barely works and the dryer has completely given out.  A washer and dryer would be such a blessing to this family, so they can do laundry in their rented home.  Since Julia will be in the hospital for over one month, it would be a blessing for this family to be able to do their laundry at home while making trips to the hospital.  Thank you and Merry Christmas!”  ~ Nominated by Madeline Tabussi

Santa Suds Winner:  Rachel Keller

Nomination Letter:

“Hi, Rachel is a single mother who is on disability for melanoma cancer and complications of treatment.  Her disability checks hardly make ends meet and she just told me yesterday that her washer is broke and leaks all over her floor.  She is a wonderful and caring woman who always puts others needs before her own.  She continuously makes sacrifieces to help others.  She would give you her last dollar,  the shirt off of her back and her last ounce of food.  Please bless her with a new washer and dryer.  I know she would be ever so grateful.  Thank you for the opportunity to submit this request.  You are doing a wonderful thing.  God bless your business.”  ~ Nominated by Nanette Scoville

Santa Suds Winner:  Scott and Donna Jamieson

Nomination Letter:

“The family has three children ages 5 to 16.  Donna has been recently diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer.  She has had to stop working and is on chemotherapy.  The prognosis is not good and the grim reality this holiday season is that it may very well be the last with her family.  They are in financial crisis and about at the end of their resources.  Support of a new washer and dryer (and prayers) would be helpful.”  ~ Nominated by Joe Vetter
