Here at Home-Tech, we love the opportunity to introduce you to the awesome members of our Home-Tech family. These folks are truly the heart of our 35 year old local employee owned company, and Kimberly Riching, Service Agreement sales expert, is a perfect example of what Home-Tech represents – loyalty, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Fort Myers Native
Kimberly grew up in Fort Myers, graduated from Fort Myers High School, and went into a successful career in sales and marketing.
“One of the most fun jobs I ever had was selling Jaguars,” she says with a smile.
Eventually, Kimberly created a lucrative career for herself in real estate; in fact she still has her real estate license. She enjoyed the job and did well, but then in the mid-2000’s, the market fell. “There were a lot of us in the real estate business wondering what we were going to do next,” she says. “I got lucky”.
Years before Kimberly was in ad sales for a local business magazine that featured Home-Tech on the cover. That’s how she met founder and CEO, Steve Marino.
“After the market crashed and things got slow in the real estate business, I ran into Steve at a networking event,” she says. “It just so happens that during a staff brain-storming meeting the day before, Steve had decided to create a new division at Home-Tech – Service Agreement Sales. Representatives would work out in the field, meeting with Realtors, and helping them choose Home-Tech Service Agreements for their sellers. I knew that it would be perfect for me.”
In addition to working with homeowners, Kimberly works with Realtors, helping them incorporate the Service Agreement into their real estate deals. It’s really a win-win for everyone involved. Kimberly says that Realtors love putting a Home-Tech Service Agreement in a listing; sellers recognize the incentive, and buyers know the value. If an appliance breaks down in their new house, Home-Tech is just a phone call away.
“It’s a huge incentive to buy a home that comes with a Service Agreement,” explains Kimberly. “A house could look perfect to a buyer, but they might be apprehensive if they see that the appliances or the air conditioner are a little older. If a year-long Service Agreement comes with the deed, it means peace of mind.”
“Realtors will often purchase Home-Tech Service Agreements as house warming gifts for their clients after they’ve sold them a home,” says Kimberly.
Because she spent so many years in the real estate business, Kimberly knows how to interact with Realtors – as a result, she does a lot of networking. Plus Home-Tech has a Customer Referral Program that builds a bridge between Service Agreement Sales and real estate professionals.
“Due to Home-Tech’s 35 years of doing business in southwest Florida, customers and Realtors are very familiar with our high level of service. My job is simplified to educating them on what benefits the Service Agreement will have for them. Our customers love the convenience and peace of mind with the protection from high-cost repairs. I’ve found that Realtors like that the Service Agreement takes the concern about the equipment out of the equation. It’s always a big benefit to the real estate transaction,” says Kimberly.
“What I love most about my job is that Home-Tech is not only locally owned, but employee owned,” says Kimberly. “It really does feel like a family here. And it’s great being out meeting people every day.”
