What’s next for an employee owner of Home-Tech who has been with us for 27 years? Promote him to Indoor Comfort Specialist for the Naples and Marco Island areas, that’s what! Meet Tim VanRee and congratulate him. Tim moved to Naples from Grand Rapids, Michigan 28 years ago and became employed by Home-Tech. Through the years he’s had many responsibilities, delivery person, technician, lead technician, Field Supervisor, AC installer, Naples AC Install Manager and most recently Service Manager for the Regional office. He’s an expert when it comes to air conditioning systems. So he’s the perfect candidate to become an Indoor Comfort Specialist with Home-Tech.
Tim VanRee, his wife of 23 years, his son and daughter are all long time residents of Naples. His son is 17 and is dual-enrolled in FGCU and his daughter is 12. Tim’s area to serve is Naples and Marco Island. It makes sense because he knows the area so well.
Did this Promotion Come as a Surprise?
Yes, it did! It came out of the blue. I was really enjoying my job as Service Manager. I’ve been approached before for this position and the timing wasn’t right. But now it is. I’ve always enjoyed everything I’ve done at Home-Tech. I know I’ll enjoy this too.
I’m very impressed with Trane equipment. It’s 90% of what I sell. I like how it best fits the homeowner’s needs. The two stage Trane equipment like the XV18 TruComfort Variable Speed is great for humidity removal. With this climate, we are basically living in a swamp. Naples residents need something more efficient when they are replacing their systems and something to give proper humidity control.
I’m finding most of the Naples Home-Tech Service Agreement Members are replacing their equipment around the ages of 10-12 years. If they have multiple units they go ahead and replace them all at once. They just don’t want any issues. Even if some of the units are still running they will replace them. Many of them are not here year round, so they need a reliable system to protect their homes.
Also I recommend the Trane wi-fi connected thermostats like the ComfortLink II XL950. When a customer is not in their residence they can watch it from afar. It’s like they are there looking at their thermostat and can see what their systems are doing.
What’s Your Method of Working with Customers?
I enjoy working with customers and taking care of their comfort needs the best I can. I spend at least an hour with a customer. answering questions, and finding out what their comfort needs are. I measure and see what will fit and give them choices that will fit their needs. I’ve spent so many years working Naples and know a lot of people. I have a good feel for the area and the needs of the customer base.
I love it. It’s the best thing. I can support the company and my fellow owners. I feel more invested. I treat it like my own. It’s my company.
Any Goals you Want to Share?
Well I started this position at the end of March and just decided to give it my best. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. I’m always asking our customers for referrals.
Well the funniest was a lady who called and said she had no heat. I went out there and she had an old wall unit but it was laying on the ground pointed up in the air. No wonder she didn’t have any heat. That’s what Home-Tech is here for, to solve problems for our customers.
Have you Ever Had Your AC Fail at Your House?
Yes, but not often and not for long because I can repair it. I do understand how uncomfortable it is though and that motivates me even more to help our customers.
How Do you Feel About the Growth in Naples?
The potential is huge. There is lots of real estate for sure. There is so much ground to cover. Naples is exploding everywhere. It’s exciting!
